What follows is an unofficial Force Organisation Chart for creating a Dread Mob detachment for 7th edition Warhammer 40k. What I have created is loosely inspired by the Dread Mob rules in the Imperial Armour VIII Raid On Kastorel-Novem but adapted for 7th edition.
It may be used in place of the poorly designed Dread Mob formation from the 7th edition Ghazgull Thraka supplement, or as any other Ork detachment would be.
This is for the benefit of players like myself who have stubbornly stuck with Warhammer 40k 7th edition due to edition fatigue.
Compulsory: 1 HQ, 1 Troop, 1 Elite, 3 Heavy Support
Optional: 2 HQ, 3 Troop, 3 Elite, 6 Heavy Support, 1 Lord of War, 1 Fortification
All units in this faction must have the Orks faction (or have no Faction).
All vehicles in this detachment must be walkers and at least three units must be vehicles.
At least one Big Mek must be included.
This detachment may not include a Warboss, Ghazghkull Thraka or any named characters from the Orks Codex.
Dread Boss: If this Detachment is chosen as your Primary Detachment, you can re-roll the result when rolling on the Warlord Traits table in Codex: Orks. In this case however only a Big Mek from this detachment may be the Warlord.
Mekaniaks: Up to two meks may be taken for each HQ slot used in this detachment instead of one.
Wall of Eavy Metal: All vehicles in this detachment may take the Extra Armour upgrade for free.
Mad Modded: In this detachment Killa Kans count a Troops and Deff Dredds count as Elites.
So that is my unofficial offer of a Dread Mob Detachment for Warhammer 40k Orks. Perhaps I will use it in my Project Mork.
Do you think it is balanced? What would you suggest to improve it?
