What follows is an unofficial Force Organisation Chart for creating an Orks Speed Freeks detachment for 7th edition Warhammer 40k.
Orks were one faction that did not receive a particularly well rounded set of formations. In particular they did not really get anything to help create a Kult of Speed or Speed Freeks themed detachment. The Ghazkull Thraka supplement had a Speed Freeks formation. However while it did open up access to fast attack choices for a battleforged army it had no bonuses associated with it at all.
So for the benefit of those Ork players like myself that have stayed with 7th edition due to Edition Fatigue I have created this balanced and thematic Force Organisation Chart for those petrol head orks.
Compulsory: 1 HQ, 3 Fast Attack.
Optional: 3 HQ, 3 Troops, 3 Elites, 8 Fast Attack
All units in this detachment must have the Orks faction.
All units of the type infantry must take a dedicated transport option unless also a character. Only dedicated transports with the Fast rule may be taken. Units of Nobz must take warbikes as an upgrade instead. Characters must either take a warbike (or Gazbag’s Blitzbike) as an upgrade, if available to them, or join an infantry unit with a dedicated transport.
Kult Boss: If this detachment is chosen as your Primary Detachment, you can re-roll the result when rolling on the Warlord Traits table in Codex: Orks.
Red Wunz Go Fasta: All units that can take a Red Paint Job as an upgrade must do so but at no points cost.
Units of the type bike or jet bike may move an additional 1″ when they turbo-boost.
So that is my unofficial Speed Freeks detachment. Perhaps I will make a Speed Freeks detachment for Project Mork.
Do you think it is balanced?
