Adeptus Mechanicus
Mechaniator scenario, Waster xenotype and Transhumanist meme gets you a passable Adeptus Mechanicus faction. For bonus points settle a polluted desert or tundra tile to simulate Mars.
Wasters make great mechaniators. Wasters get a buzz from pollution so you can practice a lot of negligence when it comes to toxic waste disposal.

Victorian Gentleman Adventurer
The Victorian period of the British Empire, was a time of high adventure for many a British gentleman. Steamships made the world accessible as never before and enormous fortunes made from industrial investments provided disposable funds for private travel for research, exploration and even whimsical purposes like shooting big and exotic animals for trophies.
The large technological gap between Britain as the first modern nation in the world and much of the rest of the world provided a very Rimworld like experience. A world where finely tailored men, au fait with the latest science, armed with breech loading rifles rub shoulders with naked animists armed with the traditional pointy stick.

Woodstock
The baby boomers of the western world were perhaps the most degenerate, narcissistic and hedonistic of generations in human history. Not much epitomised their moral depravity better than the Woodstock music festival.
Moral depravity is very much on the menu for Rimworld. To recreate the specific kind of depravity of the boomers make a custom ideology based on the High Life meme and possibly also Nudism. Main precepts would be free love and essential drug use.
Miscellaneous Conceptions
One Big Mob
The big mob using the Proselytiser meme to maximise population growth through conversion. The free love precept helps the birth rate as Rimworld’s slow marriages is no barrier to conception.
Space Monkeys
Five grunting cave men travel to the sky boat to explore, and thump, the universe. Pick an all neanderthal tribal start. Use the nomadic lifestyle to travel to the crashed spaceship. Fix the ship and fly into the big sky!

Make all your initial colonists into the Waster xenotype and settle a polluted tile.

The Wise Wizard of the North
Take a standard Mechaniator scenario and settle an Ice Sheet biome. Mechs do not care about the cold and the permanent winter makes it possible to passively store toxic waste.
