Hobby Streak Day 23 – Commander Torchstar Gets Some Colour
Having gone as far as to prime and zenithal my first Tau Commander I decide stay on this project. So today I work on the light map a bit more. I use black ink to line the recesses and dry brush with white to catch the raised edges. I also blend in some white here and there too.
Then I mostly hide all that work with an airbrushing of a few coats of Army Painter Dragon Red. This is the colour I use for the Farsight Enclaves uniform. It is nicely darkish red with good saturation.
After that I give the marker drones a white rim and start working in the grey secondary colours.
Earlier I looked up Commander Torchstar in the Mont’ka book for a guide to painting him. It turns out he is a she, whoops sorry for misgendering the good commander. This is the one advantage of boob plate I suppose, to signal gender in the heavily armoured. Although given the Tau are not human mammals they almost certainly do not have mammary glands, or boobs, to plate. So I guess that is moot.
